The California Grapevine

The California Grapevine is an independent, discriminating buying guide focusing on premium California wine. Published six times a year, each issue contains multiple pages including wine reviews, book reviews, summaries, and commentary.

Our comprehensive tasting notes are the result of weekly double blind tastings held in San Diego, California. Notes include information about each wine including vintage, suggested retail price, color, aroma/bouquet, body, flavors, tannin/acid levels, finish, aftertaste, alcohol content, production quantity, varietal composition, release date, group score and editor’s score. In addition, true rankings for each flight are given.

Commentary on matters of interest to the wine aficionado by internationally acclaimed wine journalist Dan Berger appears in each issue, along with wine related book reviews by noted wine judge and California Grapevine panelist Bob Foster.

Our subscribers also receive a compilation of the results of the major wine competitions summarizing the 100 top performing wines of the year.

We also offer a full database of wine competition results containing the  complete record of over two thousand medal winning wines.

The California Grapevine is the oldest continuously published private wine news letter in the United States. Over the years we have gained a reputation for credibility and honesty from both consumers and wine makers alike.

Thank you for visiting us. We invite you to peruse our site while sipping a glass of fine California wine,  joining with us as we celebrate our 35th year.
